Weather Remains A Factor! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 22 June 2009 06:55

Hi Folks,

I know I must sound like a broken record but; the weather just

will not get rite. On days when the water clears a bit, the fishing improves

also. The back bays are still producing flounder and blues. A few stripers are

scattered throughout. Spot have started to show in Indian River and in Massey’s Ditch. Indian River Inlet is giving up stripers to those using live spot, live eel, or bucktail and white worm. The bluefish in the Inlet have been really thick on in-coming tide and will hit just about anything you throw at them. Weather is also hampering the offshore fishing. The Hambone seems to be giving up a few bluefin tuna to those trolling. Jeff and Will Courtney had a 41-inch bluefin take a ballyhoo capped with a Zuker. They also had a break-off.

Need Better Weather!!!! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 15 June 2009 07:25

Hi Folks,

The recent storms passing through have kept the Back Bay waters kind of dirty and in turn have slowed the fishing action. Some flounder are still being taken in areas that are not quite as cloudy and it seems the outgoing tide is still producing the most fish. Bluefish and stripers are still providing action in the backwaters as well as in the River Inlet. Incoming tides are bringing schools of shad that provide some real hot action. Tina Marechek of Annapolis, Md. fished Rehoboth Bay using a squid and shiner sandwich to fool her 21-½ inch flattie. Scott Saleff of Millsboro took a 20-½ flounder from Massey’s Ditch using pink GULP! Ocean fishing continues to be slow but I’m sure that will improve as temps rise.

Back Bay Keeps Getting Better PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 June 2009 12:08
Hi Folks,

Fishing remains pretty much the same. Flounder fishing continues to be better in the back bays rather than the ocean. Folks tell us they are catching plenty of fish but the keepers are tougher to come by. Squid, minnows, frozen shiners, and GULP! all continue to produce fish. Striper action in the Indian River Inlet seems to be best for those fishing the nighttime waters. Live eel, bucktails tipped with a white curtail worm, live spot, and Storm or Tsunami shads will do the trick. Shad are appearing in large numbers along with some large schools of bluefish on the flood tide. Small blues can also be found scattered around the back bays. If you are fishing the back bays, the outgoing tide seems to be the most productive due to warmer water temps. Steven Goff of Delmar fished Rehoboth Bay to bag a 7lb 7oz flattie while fishing with Bruce Lynch.

Hi folks,

What a beautiful weekend. The weather was great and the fishing was trying real hard to match the sunny skies. Back bay flounder action continues to be the most productive. Striper action in the Indian River Inlet is also hot when it is hot. Some really nice fish have come out of the inlet. Ocean activity has been mainly sea bass with a few reports of keeper flounder. Big blues have been taken on the troll between DA Buoy and the Delaware Lightship.

Friday, 15 May 2009 09:31

Hi Folks!  The weather still is a bit uncooperative but the weatherman keeps telling us it is going to get better. When the water is clean and the winds are calm, the flounder fishing has been good. With the regs now allowing an 18-½ inch flattie we should be seeing more keepers. The hot baits are still minnow and squid or the GULP! swimming minnow or mullet in white. pink, or chartreuse. Striper action continues to improve in the Indian River Inlet.
