There is no doubt about it, when the weather cooperates the fish
followthe program. Getting a few days of fishable water gives us some
info to pass along. Inshore structure such as Site #10 is giving up some
real nice tog to those soaking green crabs or sand fleas. Folks, if you hit
that day when you can do no wrong, please take only the amount of fish
you will use in a short time. These slow growers are surely taking a hit and
when the fishery is in short supply it will be many years until it rebuilds. Some
of these limits make no sense at all and too many times fish are put in the freezer
and tossed out later. Sport, fun, and relaxation should be why we are there!
One fisherman reported a few nice sea bass on Saturday but had to release
them due to the season not re-opening until Nov. 1st.
The rock walls out of Lewes have been producing some good tog
Action. Tony Dambro and Bill Kommer had a nice catch of the tasty critters
using green crabs and sand fleas. Bobby and Greg Haas had Donnie Baus
to the Outter Wall to bang the tog to over 5 pounds. Massey’s Ditch is giving
up plenty of tog but most are short of keeper size. This provides lots of fun
and challenge and that is what it is all about. Shoirt stripers are also being
taken at Massey’s and in Indian River Inlet.
Capt. Chuck Cook of First Light Charters continues to put his
clients on the fish. Garrettt and Jen Perdick of Newark De. fished on a night charter with Capt. Chuck. They landed stripers while drifting eels in the inlet on a cold night. Garrett also caught some quality stripers while using the fly rod. These fish were caught on small bunker immatation flies. Mark Ellis of Lewes De. also striper fished with Capt. Chuck and Mark managed to get two keepers in the box along with several other throw backs.
