Whew!!  Spring has sprung and with a vengeance.  After a week that started off with lots of rain, the weekend brought plenty of sunshine and warmth.

The fish are here and waiting to be caught.  Flounder have been caught at Massey’s Pier, VFW Slough, south side Burton’s Island, and the entrance to North Shore Marina.  They are being caught on minnows, squid, cut herring, and Gulp!  Stripers have been picked up at  Massey’s Pier and the I.R. inlet.  They are being caught on eel, bloodworms, herring, and a bucktail with a white worm.  Some tog have been taken at the inlet rocks, Delaware Bay Wall and the wrecks using green crabs and shrimp.

Colleen Gathers caught a 20” flounder at Massey’s Landing on minnows and a bucktail.  Capt. Dan Carey caught a 22” flounder and Miss Wanda caught a 29” rockfish at the edge of Burton’s Island using winch eaters.  They also released 3 or 4 more.  Andrew Wertz and his son Andrew Wertz, Jr. caught 2 19 ½  inch flounder along with a 17 ½ and a 17 inch.

Freshwater fishing also seems to be doing well.  Brian Stevens caught an almost 4 lb. pickerel in Burton’s Pond.
